Introduction
to Yoga
The word “yoga” is derived from the Sanskrit "yeung",
meaning to join or unite. Although in the west, yoga often
refers to the “asana” or physical poses, yoga
traditionally refers to an encompassing discipline of mental,
spiritual and physical exercises designed to aid in enlightenment
by uniting the body with mind and energy. With Caro the exercise
component, or asana of yoga are practiced in conjunction
with meditation and pranayama, (meaning breath or life-force)
as an aid to healthy living and mental rejuvenation. Although
a spiritual discipline is not required of students, Caro
is deeply focused on philosophy spanning from the father
of yoga, Patanjali, through to Iyengar and Desikachar. She
has worked with contemporaries such as Alan Finger and Bo
Forbes, and she always welcomes questions and encourages
deeper learning.
Yoga benefits all
students of all levels, body types, and physical and mental
histories. All of Caro’s classes
are inspiring and invigorating. Each class closes with a
pose of deep relaxation, aromatherapy and a light neck/shoulder
massage (optional), accompanied by peaceful and illuminating
music.

I would like to thank the amazing Sue Stofira for her great
knowledge, artistic subtlety and creativity in producing
all of the images on this website. www.ssquaredphotography.com
